It seems that despike O'Korn's upside athletically (he looked very fast and a more-than-able scrambler in the Spring Game), Speight may be a better game manager and compliment to what I am anticipating as a top 5 national defense. Speight may be our Griese this year, manage the game, play smart, use the tools in front of you, and don't turn it over. He seems like an extremely hard worker to boot (spend all summer just prepping to play this fall).

Thoughts?

I'd personally like to see Speight start at QB this year. I think either way JH goes, Speight or Okorn, will be fine. It's hard question to answer especially since they're both under JH tutelage.

From what I have seen...Speight can probably be better at the underneath stuff. Throw to the TE's and fullback. Be the potential Brian Griese.

O'Korn seems to be more erratic. This is nothing other than speculation and based on very limited viewings/highlights. I think O'Korn could be the guy to come off the bench and throw 3 td's in 6 minutes but I don't know if UM will ever be in that position.

Here is the bottom line. I think UM needs a guy who can move the chains even in a boring manner. A guy who can complete passes to Hill, Butt and Darboh and an occasional pass to Chesson when the field position is right.

I want to see the qb. My only hope is that the fans don't undermine the starter after 1 bad game. :)

Speight starts at QB an O'K comes in ( share the time ) and the second half goes to the winner of the 1st half. "74

With or without a helmet? Good to see you're alive and kicking brother, I had to check your profile to make sure you were still around (I took a posting sabbatical for a few weeks).
Hey bro ... great to see you here again too! Just has been a super busy and good summer ... sailing, fending off the Kate Upton wannabe's, and enjoying experimenting with all the new craft beers I can.

Now ... really looking forward to Meechigan Football, not fending off the Kate wannabe's, and even more craft beers.

Life is good!

A certain other site saying a supposedly connected insider reporting it will be Speight.

If you have 2 quarterbacks, you don't have any quarterback (will be interesting to see how Notre Dumb does with 2 QBs). Not my words but the words of almost any coach who has that decision to make. I heard it said, how can 2 guys date the same girl?

I think you can have two starting qb's for 2-3 games since you are dealing with game performance if it's close.

I tend to agree with you that eventually you have to choose but I do think Harbaugh can wait a game or two but tell the team it will be made by 'x' date.

I assume it has to be Wilton. I think someone else above said this - the expectation for us should be that our D should be dominant and we need a game manager not someone that can put up 40 points per game. I remember one of the players on the 1997 D saying "we used to tell our offense, score 2 TDs and your job is done" and Brian G did that really well and I think this year will be much the same - or so I hope. The most potent offense we will face will be in the last game of the season with OSU and I expect that 14 weeks from now we will have a clear idea of how good our D is and how good the QB needs to be or the type of QB we need. For some reason I am expecting a lot of smash mouth, field position type football this year versus 30++ point games, but hey I will take 15 games where we win each game 2-0 anyday :)
