Was watching highlights from the Hawaii game...jury still out to WS. All his throws were to guys that were wide open (a function of the creative Drevno play calling with misdirections). He basically threw at players versus anticipating where players would go as part of their routes. Young season but as we start to play some tougher defenses, he is likely not going to have so many wide open targets. That is the one area Ruddock became so good at doing towards the end of last season. Would love to see him air out a bit more, get rid of the ball faster and practice connecting on his long-ball against UCF.

I agree, we need to work on timing this week with the receivers so we can truly take advantage of our WR speed.

All things being equal, Speight started off significantly stronger and more in rhythm than Rudock did (I'm not counting the serious competition vs Utah, but games like UNLV and Oregon State).

These things will improve as the season goes, just like they did with Rudock. With Jim and Jedd coaching these QBs, I'm not worried about it.

Hopefully - I think our first formidable test will come against Wisconsin. Penn State will be tough but I think they will be so inept with their offense that we can mask our deficiencies on offense, if we have any. Wisci is a tough D and I am hoping by Week 5 Speight has his timing figured out. If Evans can replicate his rushing attacks from Week 1 - we will be fine. He is fast, bold and honestly the best RB I have seen at UM since Robinson (when he was injured and started playing RB).

I wasn't too impressed with the safe, simple throws. Seemed like everything was a play action or something simple. Wish he had a rocket arm like o'Korn but Harbaugh knows what he's doing. We probably won't know about Speight until the road game at MSU.

Coaches tend to roll that way with first time QB starters
