When the choice is between Speight and Peters, Peters gets a fair amount of support. Peters has more natural ability, he looked better in the Spring Game while Speight did not play well at the end of the season, etc.
But Harbaugh says that, as of now, the choice is between Speight and O'Korn. Apart from pure deference to Harbaugh's judgment (if Harbaugh chooses O'Korn that's good enough for me), which is not a position is available to Speighters (who will be upset if Speight starts even if that's Harbaugh's decision) would anyone be happy with O'Korn starting? For myself, based upon what I saw in the Indiana game I would be more or less horrified if O'Korn walks out to start against Florida.
If Speighters wouldn't choose O'Korn over Speight, then they have to say: 1) Harbaugh has really fallen short in QB recruiting, and/or 2) Harbaugh doesn't know how to evaluate QBs and would be mistaken *both* in rating Speight and O'Korn over Peters *and* O'Korn over Speight.
OK, Speighters: Would you really be happy with O'Korn? If not, is Harbaugh deficient in recruiting, developing, and/or evaluating QBs?
