A friend of mine who knows the history of the Big Ten has explained to me Sparty anger at Michigan. When Sparty applied for membership in 1948 , we (Michigan) did everything we could to deny them admission. We tried to abort their birth in the B1G and stomp on them every way we could. At this point in his explanation my friiend, a Sparty, began gasping and wheezing for air. “You guys tried to annihilate us before we were even born, he said , his face getting redder and redder. “So of course we are pissed at you,” he shouted. “And we always will be,” he added, before wheezing again and stalking out into the night.
