I was thinking that a 7 seed may not be great for the Spartans until I began to hear about their opponents. They were placed in the only region that would virtually put them in the Elite Eight to Final Four and BEFORE they even start playing.

First, they get 10 seed Georgia, a team that has been up and down as their top two players have been battling turned ankles all year. Turns out those two players re-injured their ankles this last weekend.

Then they get 2 seed Virginia, a team which has been struggling lately as their key player (a guard) has injured fingers and has been out. Apparently, he has returned but his fingers are taped and he struggles to dribble or shoot.

Then MSU would get Oklahoma, a 3 seed, which the experts describe as soft with big men that play softer than their size.

When the Spartans get past Oklahoma, they get Villanova, the weakest 1 seed and a team that UM took down to the final seconds when UM was playing with a hobbled Walton, Spike and Levert.

In every other region, I could not see MSU getting close to the Final Four. So, I wondered, is Mark Hollis on the Selection Committee? I checked. Yes, he is on the Selection Committee for the NCAA BBall Tournament. Unbelievable draw.
