So the debate rages on. I get it, everyone has their favorites. Personally, I'm glad Devion has moved on. He had his moments but I never thought he was the best option at RB. So I get it. At the same time I based my opinion on 3 years of on field evidence.

My problem with the criticism of Sp8 is I just don't think he's getting a fair shake. I feel like he's being judged as a 5th year Sr. Rather than a rising Jr. with one season under his belt.

I also feel like the fact that he played hurt for the last month is being completely (or mostly) ignored.

In my opinion he's a winner.

The first time we saw him was when Jake R. went down against Minnesota and he came in and led us to a come from behind win on the road.

Even then MANY on the board predicted he would never get a sniff at starting QB.

So of course he won the job.

Last year we won ten games and could have (maybe should have) won them all.

In my opinion the #1 defense in the country and the officials lost the OSU game. I my opinion it falls on the D for the Iowa and FSU games. We had leads until the last defensive stand in all of those games.

Was Sp8 perfect? No. Still, he did enough to put us in position to win while playing hurt.

Loses are team losses just like wins are but in all those games we were ahead and the D needed stops that didn't happen.

According to the 2017 Football preview mag last year's passing accuracy completion % was 61.6%. The fourth highest % since 1997.

That's 4th best out of the last 20 years for a Soph. First year starter.

I really hope the o-line can do more to protect the QB and open holes for the RB's. Last year Sp8 was running for his life way too much and he paid the price physically.

Who knows how much better an experienced, healthy, stronger Sp8 will be, but I for one wish him the best and hope that he's more fairly judged than what I've seen by many on the board so far.

That's my 2 cents.
