Sounds like Interim AD Hackett will step down this month

Excellent leadership skills for Michigan when they were needed the most. Deciding to fire Brady Hoke and then cleaning up the huge mess left behind by David Brandon on a financial basis and repairing damaged relationships while bringing together a fractured fan base around the JIm Harbaugh hire.

Well, he was instrumental on getting our boy home - but other than that? Not sure.

Any news on who the heir apparent is?

Apparently the front-runner is the AD from UConn. Not a sports powerhouse but they can boast about having a national championship virtually every year the past decade between men's and women's basketball.

Warde Manuel who played with Harbaugh at Michigan. Manuel was a DT out of New Orleans and a neck injury ended his playing career in 1989. He has extensive experience working in the Michigan Athletic Department. He knows the university and its academic expectations. He has done an excellent job at Connecticutt which is no where near the size of UM but, like mentioned earlier. he knows the environment and more importantly, he played for Bo and played with Harbaugh. The hiring of someone that does not understand the UM environment and who is in charge of everything including the football program would certainly send Harbaugh running back to the NFL. I'm sure Hackett will have a heavy hand in this hire before riding off to his retirement somewhere in Florida. He will get it right and so will President Schlissel

From the Freep:

"In addition to DeCarolis, some people who could be considered for the AD job are Connecticut AD and former U-M football player Warde Manuel, Arkansas AD and former U-M associate AD Jeff Long and former Detroit Lions president and U-M graduate Tom Lewand"

Umm, do NOT hire Tom Lewand for anything! Long or Manuel would both be good hires, I think.

I wonder how many of Brandon's minions need to be swept out. I know he cleared out many longtime employees and replaced them with "yes" men.

Gotta get this hire right. A Brandon can screw things up in so many ways and with so long-lasting consequences.

Thank you Jim Hackett for getting Harbaugh and Nike!

From what has been said, many of Brandon's puppets were cut loose with the exception of maybe one or two who were retained. Hackett did a clean sweep and began mending the relationships that were damaged. He also began bringing former players back into the program and the Harbaugh hire solidified this. He has to be an honorable man because he said from the beginning that his position was an interim position. He could have easily appointed himself yet he didn't nor did he increase his pay from what it was. They will make the right hire. I would love to read about Brandon's time in office. Any suggestions?
