Upperclass Notes
I think that we are trending towards a top five class in 2024.
We currently have 11 verbals.
I project that we land the following prospects:
TE Brady Prieskorn
OG Blake Frazier
OG Max Anderson
C Jake Guarnera
LB Aaron Chiles
LB Jermeiah Beasley
WR Channing Goodwin
WR I’Marion Stewart
That would put us at 19 verbals. I think that we will end up taking at least 25 kids in the class. First, because there will be a lot of departures following the 2023 season. Second, we need to make up in both quality and quantity for the less-than-impressive 2023 cycle. Things are fluid, however. Much will depend on how strongly we want to hit the transfer portal next year. I would suspect even more strongly than this cycle given the imminent departures. Additionally, at a certain point we will be VERY selective and only be saving spots for high four star or better type of kids who will be true difference-makers.
Here is a list of some 2024 prospects who I think we have a decent chance of landing should we go after them:
DE Brian Robinson
DE Marquise Lightfoot
DE Darien Mayo
WR Jordan Shipp
LB Michael Boganowski
RB Taylor Tatum
WR Micah Gilbert
Wr Gatlin Bair
OL Bennett Warren
OL Michael Uini
C Kyle Altuner
C Waltclaire Flynn
OL Caleb Brewer
DL Kellen Lindstrom
DL Deyvid Palepale
CB Jamir Benjamin
CB Austin Alexander
Class of 2025 Most Likely to commit to Michigan (a very early guess)
CB Chris Ewald (committed)
LB Mantrez Walker (committed)
QB Ryan Montgomery, Stone Saunders, Cutter Boley, Bryce Underwood (1/4)
WR Phillip Bell
WR LaMason Waller
WR Kamren Flowers
TE T’Andre Waverly, Gus Ritchey, Eli Owens, Xavier Newsom (2/4)
OL David Sanders (ok, wishful thinking, but what the heck, we are OL U and we will have a couple of his teammates!)
OL Avery Gach
OL Carter Lowe
OL Tucker Kattus
DL Bobby Kanka
DL Christopher Burgess
DL/OL Amir Leonard-Jean Charles
LB Weston Port
LB Noah Mikhail
LB Christian Pierce
LB Justin Hill
CB Alex Graham
S C.J. Jimcoily
Class of 2026 Notes
Charlotte Providence Day School in Noth Carolina is the home of Michigan QB verbal Jadyn Davis, WR targets Channing Goodwin and Joran Shipp and 2025 superstar David Sanders. There are also several 2026 prospects to monitor. One is Aidan Gallos (RB, 5-9, 175) who impressed as a freshman with 75 carries for 648 yards and 6 TDs. Another is lineman Miles Funderburk (6-1, 280), who saw quality time both ways as a freshman, was an FBU Freshman All-Amnerican and has an early offer from UNCC. Jace Goodwin, the younger brother of Channing is also one to monitor. At 5-7, 207 and playing RB and DL, he may not have the measurables to project at a high P5 level but it is still early.
Ohio State has recently offered two in-state OL prospects from northeast Ohio in Maxwell Riley (6-5, 265, Avon Lake) and Sam Greer (6-8, 290, Akron Archbishop Hoban). Riley is more technically sound after having started as a freshman. Big-timer. Greer made his mark more as a varsity basketball player for the state champs his freshman season. But hie tremendous size and athleticism really intrigue. Michigan may want to give both a closer look, but OL is one area where I think Michigan can pretty much pick and choose in the near future.
Davis Schwerzel (DE, 6-4, 230, Seattle O’Dea) is one of the top young prospects in the Northwest. He trains with FSP, the same program that Colston Loveland and Hogan Hansen have trained with. Albert Karschnia has a strong relationship with one of the program directors. Schwerzel was just offered the other day. He is a vbig-timer and we are his second offer after Louisville, which should position us well with him.
Amari Sabb (DB/RB/WR/ATH, 5-10, 165, Glassboro, NJ) is yet another Sabb brother who is highly regarded. He has an early Michigan offer. As a freshman cornerback he picked off four passes and recorded 27 tackles. On offense he ran for a team-high 754 yards, averaged 6.6 yards per carry, added 14 catches and scored eight touchdowns. He earned all South Jersey honors.
Class of 2027 Notes
Cadarius McMiller is a 2027 prospect who was just offered by Nebraska. A RB/WR/ATH out of Tyler High in Texas. What makes him so unique? Well, he ran a verified 10.45 100 meters in March as an 8th-grader and then ran what he said is a verified 10.3 100 meters on March 28 (slower than the initial 10.1 unofficial time). Never seen that sort of speed in a kid at that age.
A couple of 2027 prospects to monitor with Michigan bloodlines include 6-2 QB/ATH Jabin Gonzales (Orchard Lake St. Mary's) who is the son of former Michigan player Jermaine Gonzales and John Stokes (DL, 5-11, 230, Columbis (SC) Hammond), the younger brother of Michigan RB CJ Stokes.
Some other 2027 prospects of note:
Giancarlo Vitti (WR/DB, 5-8, 140, Dearborn Divine Child): Younger brother of 2026 Michigan offeree Marcello Vitti
Jameson Purcell (QB, 6-2, 181, Park Ridge Maine South, IL): Visited Michigan this month. Camped at Michigan last year and also attended at least one game. Southpaw who is a big-timer. Ole Miss has already offered
Djuan Edwards (RB, 5-11, 176, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s): Joins Gonzales as part of a powerful incoming class at the school
Xavier Sabb (DB, 6-0, 175, Glassboro, NJ): Younger brother of Michigan safety Keon Sabb. Big—timer with offers already from the likes of Penn State, Oregon and Ole Miss
