Texas - If they fire Barnes (as they should), this is the job for Gregg Marshall. He would dominate there and its a low pressure environment given the focus is on football. I think Texas would be an elite team within 5 years. There is just no excuse for Texas to have not won the Big 12 once in the past 12 years. Bottom line, this would be the plum job in the offseason.
Alabama - Their fanbase is delusional. Marshall would be an idiot to go there. It would be like having a winning lottery ticket and cashing it in on a 20 year old pickup truck. People forget that Anthony Grant was considered a major up and comer when he went to Alabama. I'm not saying you can't win there, Gottfried and Wimp Sanderson did, but this is not an elite job and not the type of job you leave Wichita or VCU for. Look for them to hire someone who is willing to cheat, they're going to pay a lot of money to compete with Bruce Pearl, and we all know his track record.
St. John's - I thought firing Lavin was a reach. He did a solid job there. Its not an easy place to recruit, and he did get kids from outside NYC to go there. Its been a long time since they were relevant though.
Tennessee - Talk about an athletic department in disarray. Maybe they should have kept the coach who took them to the Sweet 16 last year? I wouldn't touch this job with a ten foot pole at this point.
Miss. State - Classic SEC ethics here. Fire a coach and 2 days later hire his replacement? There is a reason why Ben Howland couldn't get a job better than this. He is shady, so he''ll fit in perfect with the SEC West.
Indiana - They're probably going to hold onto Crean, but that's a bad move. This team could be very good next year, and in some ways, it is the perfect time for a new coach. Guy could win right away and will get a big recruiting bounce. I don't think Crean is dreadful, but he's lost the fanbase there. Only way he wins it back at this point is to make the Final 4. I see something like Sweet 16 next year for Indiana if things go right. All that does is give Crean another year or two.
