So what’s wrong?

1. We don’t cheat. There are schools that have boosters who pay players. We all know who there are. It’s very hard to compete with that.

2. We are a real university where players have to get a real education. We will never have a player answer on line when they are asked about there area of study.

3. We turned over our entire OL except one and he was out Saturday along with our other OT. Everyone was talking about how great our OL coach is but you can’t have that kind of turnover and fix it on the fly. MSU was ready and so was Indiana. Twists, stunts and run blitzes. It’s going to take time for these kids to pick it up.

4. We have very few WR’s with any experience which is why one of our top receivers is a true freshman. We are developing a sophomore TE who I think is extremely talented but it will take a while. He’s currently struggling. We have a QB who has hardly played. Seems to be immensely talented but it will take a while. On that point at Stanford Jim had Luck. He’s never had a QB close to that good at Michigan. Rudock filled in great for one year. Speight was good for a year then hurt and transferred. O’Korn was next who was awful. The horrible pick he threw against OSU with a chance to win the game. Peter’s another failure and finally Patterson who wasn’t the 5* savior we thought he would be. You don’t win big without a really good QB and we haven’t had one. Hopefully Milton will be that person but it won’t happen over night.

5. Talent is thin on defense. DL has been disappointing. We have two good DE’s and both are out. LB’s have been OK and corners are at best ok. You can’t play Don Brown‘s defense without lock down corners. On the offense we are young and need to learn and develop. On defense we are short on talent.

Summary. If the officials hadn’t stole the game in Columbus in 2016 I think this might have all been different. It would have been like Coach Harbaugh at Stanford all over again. Recruiting would have taken off and instead it happened for them. The football factories pay players and buy recruits. I know it goes on for a fact. We are an educational institution that has a highly regarded football program but we will never be a football factory. We will never buy recruits. We will never pay players and we will never have players in phony study programs. Unfortunately I think the window is closing for Coach Harbaugh. I hope I’m wrong but I doubt it. We will start over again soon. Probably with a young African American coach. Someone like Tony Elliott. He’ll start with big fanfare and a recruiting boost. If he can’t beat OSU in 6-7 years we’ll reload again.
