We have those diehards that have an ultimate belief that Harbaugh is our guy and the program is progressing. They believe Harbaugh is the prodigal son and his results will ultimately be what they have been at every other stop where he has coached. This camp is disgusted by our other camp that I will address next.
Camp 2 is the part of the fan base that were so excited when Harbaugh was hired, but is now the scorned lover. They are so in love (w/ Michigan Football) want so bad to trust, but are too emotionally fragile. This camp thought we had finally got our Saban, our Urbs (minus the douchey behavior and overlap scumbag tendencies....discussion for another post). This camp is disappointed by the results so far. They are even more disappointed by the lack of creativity of the offensive game plans and our consistent inability to develop our biggest source of pain (the OL). This camp believed Harbaugh would outcoach at least a portion of these college coaches. That hasn’t happened. Adding to the frustration level.
As I mentioned earlier, Camp 1 is disgusted by the negativity of Camp 2. They don’t understand the rationale of coming in this board and focusing on the negatives. They pose questions like “If not Harbaugh, than who?” A very valid question. The fringe part of this camp askes posters to find another team to root for or to find another way to spend their time. These same posters suggest that those in camp 2 stop posting, cancel their Rivals memberships etc.....
Camp 2 tells camp 1 to take off the rose colored glasses and see the team for what it is. Camp 2 is emotionally damaged goods. Camp 2 is afraid to put any stock on blowout wins over inferior opponents. To Camp 2 these wins and margin of victory mean nothing. Our game plans on both sides of ball lend themselves to these types of dominant wins because we have the superior talent. We impose our will because there are no gimmicks, rather man on man domination. Despite camp 1’s opinion, Camp 2 thoroughly enjoys these dominant wins. They simply don’t put much weight in them at this point.
Camp 1 shouts “you realize we won, right?” “We just won by 5 TD’s right? “ Would u prefer Toledo?” Again these questions have merit. When camp 2 questions our elite defense, the response is “Did u watch any games when Rich Rod was here?”
Camp 2 won’t let themselves be heartbroken AGAIN by losses to our rivals. They are putting up defense mechanisms.... simply preparing themselves for the ultimate heartbreak....losses in our most important games.
So why do both camps post on The Fort? The answer is simple....WE ALL LOVE MICHIGAN FOOTBALL!!!!!! The camps are simply at a different spot mentally. Camp 1 will take great pleasure in calling out Camp 2 if we win out and Harbaugh actually fulfills his destiny.
Here is where Camp 1 will be shocked...... Stay w/ me here....Camp 2 will actually get more enjoyment if this takes place. While they will be called out relentlessly for their horrible, short sighted “hot takes”, they will gladly take the abuse for unmatched pleasure of a TRULY rewarding season. I argue that Camp 2 simply takes the losses much harder than Camp 1, so they refuse to be sucked in by blowout wins against cupcakes. No one in Camp 2 enjoys making negative posts..... there isn’t any pleasure in it. It’s called venting!!!!
Lastly, I am obviously in Camp 2. No one, at least almost no one in Camp 2 wants Harbaugh fired (except maybe the irrational fringe of Camp 2).
I am just trying to provide some perspective to both sides of the aisle, if you will. I am sure I will get hammered for this post, but hopefully no one will question my honesty.
Camp 1...... PLEASE, PLEASE be accurate in your belief in Jimmy. Please make me feel guilty about all my doubts. I will gladly rejoice in ur “I told u to trust Jimmy posts!!!”
I will leave everyone w/ this.... The Fort would be a much more enjoyable place if both sides of the aisle could try to have at least some understanding of where the other side is coming from. Again, We are ALL MICHIGAN FANS!!!! That is undeniable. Why else would we put ourselves through the abuse that is The Fort. Lol
