don't these opponents have film on UM? What does a depth chart (assume it's accurate) tell you that the film doesn't tell you. I am assuming the opponent has the roster #'s.

Make more work for the opponent....for the student assistant?

Just curious. If it really had some value to hide the depth then everyone would do it.

Maybe it's more about the psyche of the guys in the Maize & Blue locker room rather than a ploy to upset the opponents. Try to keep the guys on edge & competing.
Have no clue, but can't rule it out.

The flip side of the coin is, what is the benefit to Michigan in releasing a depth chart? Probably nothing, so they don't do it.

DrCorona also may be onto something.

And opponents can learn more about the injury situation through the depth chart. We know Harbaugh doesn't want to talk injuries. So unless he's releasing a bogus depth chart, then people would get at least some injury information.

Interesting. I wish someone would ask him directly. The players must know where they stand day to day. The injury thing...I don't see it. The competitiveness thing...like a player can change the depth chart during the warmups for the game does have some logic behind it..

These players have to know on game day who is starting. I can't imagine Harbaugh/coaches don't want the player to know he is starting to get ready. I wouldn't want two guys not to know who won the job for the week at least a couple of hours (at least) before the game.

Believe me. The starters know who they are long before the game.
