So easy for critics/commentators to assume we get only the upside of JJ if he replaces Cade

But that’s the fallacy. JJ is not as seasoned as Cade, even if Cade himself is still coming up the learning curve to some extent. There’s little doubt that JJ brings more athleticism/mobility and potentially more accuracy (and certainly arm strength) with his throws, but the QB spot isn’t performed in a vacuum as we all know. I like what Jim is doing. Give him meaningful snaps and continue working him into spots to get game experience, including crunch time reps. But ride Cade for the indefinite future and keep him as your primary QB for all the reasons that have been stated before, not the least of which is his largely mistake free, game management skills. JJ will get there in time, but I strongly suspect we would be seeing more changes of possession if JJ was getting as many snaps as Cade. Would plays he would make offset those miscues? Perhaps, but I look at a team like Wisconsin where Mertz is supposedly the most talented QB they have ever recruited and despite his performance to date, he probably is. However, clearly he was not yet ready for the moment and Wisconsin is now experiencing a losing season when in the past, with a more reliable, less mistake prone QB, they’d be right in the picture. I’m not saying Mertz is a JJ, or that JJ would have performed as poorly as Mertz. Likely not. And yet, it is not at all certain that we would be 6-0 with JJ at the helm, unless, again, you take for granted everything that Cade brings to the table. That’s my problem with the Cade critics. They assume that JJ would do equally well what Cade has proven he can do well, but even better at what Cade may not do as well. The latter may be true, but the former is not necessarily true. Given that we are 6-0 and have passed two road tests, something we have failed to do in some time, under Cade, I’m sticking with him, and I‘m glad Jim is too.
