Have the bowl games insure the draft eligible players. They payout a ton of money anyway. Might as well ensure they are getting the best bang for their bucks.
What would be the drawback?
Seems like a win-win to me...players get to play one last hurrah for their alma mater without the risk of losing millions (they probably still get drafted in most cases...career ending injuries are not as common with modern medicine). The bowls get the best players in their game instead of a completely different team. Coaches don't have to panic and gameplan for potential weaknesses. Fans can stop whining about how player X should listen to the fans...
