I don't think there will be too much of a battle. A football coach would not be bringing in a QB with one year of eligibility to compete for the position. Rudock will lead Michigan on the field this year. After watching 3 quarters of football, it is evident that the QB situation is the MAIN issue for the offense. It takes offense longer to gel than a defense, however, it is evident that Malzone is way too young and Morris is still the Morris that we have seen the last two years. The competition will be between Malzone, Gentry, and whoever else comes into AA for 2016. Morris will serve as the backup the rest of his career.

Yep. We agree. You don't bring in a conference starter if

you think your qb situation looks good. Harbaugh is bringing him in because he wants a guy to manage the game especially on the road when he realizes he has a very good defense.

It's the smart play. I agree with you that Morris looks better but I wasn't thinking this is the right guy at qb for this team. I hope to see him continue to develop along with Malzone.

For all the talk about the qb...this team still needs to develop a go to rb. Green looks quick but without a hole..he gives you basically nothing.

On Morris I'm not saying he looked like an All American but definitely good enough to push a guy like Rudock, who as of right now I assume will be the day 1 starter. But that is only IF Shane doesn't continue to get better and Gentry doesn't turn out to be the next Tim Tebow.

Agree for the most part. I think Morris can still improve greatly as can

Malzone but Ruddock should win the job. Both of these guys would have to make tremendous leaps to be the starters come the opener but they both have talent.

I would settle with a solid back up :).

It would help any of these qb's to have a wr make a play now and then when there is a less than perfect pass a run game to keep defenses honest.

I thought Morris looked pretty good today. He had several drops that should have been caught. People say he throws too hard but I thought two of the drops were on fault of the receiver. One was a 15 yard throw which hit the receiver right in the hands and ends up getting picked. Yes, he threw it hard but the QB has to throw that slant pass hard or else the receiver is going to get laid out by the safety waiting for the ball to arrive....I guarantee Harbaugh will blame that drop on the receiver. Morris also looked good on the long passes which he threw quite nicely. Malzone didn't look as good but it's because he's an 18 year old player that is brand new to college football. I would prefer that all freshman QB's redshirt to learn, gain strength and be ready to compete after their freshman season. I'm 95% sure our starting QB this fall will either be Morris or Rudock. It should be a great competition.

I agree, Morris looked quite competent, he's evidently benefiting

from the attention JH and JF are giving him. That's heartening because the coaching up of that position is just getting underway. On the other side, there was much to praise on defense, different players making plays, DBs playing very tight coverage, etc. I like what I'm seeing thus far from overall team development.

It does bother me that these wr's for the most never make plays..

I am not talking about some spectacular play but when they need to make a catch...they don't. It's always something but the ball never winds up being caught...see the throw by Malzone and it ends up in the hands of the defender. I'll excuse the converted lb'er (Winovich?).

How about as a start...just catch the ball on 3rd down and move the chains...I'll settle for that one :). These qb's need some help. If these qb's are average and their wr's are average...meaning they catch quality passes when thrown...then this offense should be able to throw for a td once per game :). I'll take that...just the basics.

RM, I totally agree. I thought our receivers were easily the worst group today...I was amazed at the number of drops. The good news is that the coaches will not be happy with their performance and will emphasize the importance of catching the ball throughout the summer. We focus a lot of our attention on the QB's but if the receivers had caught the passes they should have today they would have looked a lot better. We need the receivers to get separation from the DB's and catch the ball...anything else is gravy.
