Winovich failed to do that several times, and it cost us every time. Gary's speed is outstanding. On one play, her took a step to the inside as the QB ran to the outside. Gary chawed him down and got in on the tackle at the sideline. After the bogus roughing the QB call, he just flattened the QB on the next play.
I though our D out of sync at times, scrambling to get lined up.
DPJ getting pulled as punt returner was the right move. He takes a lot of chances, and failing to communicate to his players to stay away from the ball was a freshman mistake. He also carries the ball a little loosely for my taste.
You can tell that Perry has experience. His routes are crisp and the best. Makes the difficult catches. Plays with an edge. Gentry showed what he can do today. On the big play, he was able to accelerate and turn the corner after the catch. Not many TEs could make that play.
Evans looks like he's dropped to third string now. In his defense, he hasn't had great blocking. I liked Isaac's ability to run outside, especially the play where he was stymied inside and ran to the outside for a big gain.
Do we see a new punter next week? Awful today, and he's slow getting it off.
Cincy played 9 in the box with the safeties just 10 yards deep. We burned them with the long TD to Crawford, but I felt that we didn't do enough of the early down play action. Until they decided to move those guys back, I'd keep making them pay. The thinking was probably that we'd pop one of those runs through to the secondary with nobody home.
