After the departures of Crawford, Walker and Wheatley, we entered fall camp with 84...one under. We have lost McDoom and today Newsome and Irving-Bey, so it looks as if we will start the season at 81. Everyone is always worried about being over and needing to not offer 5th years or run ppl off and that is just not needed. In today's game, there is more movement and it will take care of itself. In hindsight, we could have offered 4 more (or more) over the last couple years.
The 81 does open up scholarships for walkons. I would imagine Jordan Glasgow, Will Hart and possibly Schoenle and Cheeseman will get them.
The 81 is comprised of:
11 seniors (3 true, 7 redshirt, 1 grad)
14 juniors (10 true, 4 redshirt)
24 sophs (14 true, 10 redshirt)
32 freshman (19 true, 13 redshirt)
Your 11 seniors are: Higdon, Wangler, Perry, JBB, Marshall, Mone, Winovich, Furbush, Watson, Hughes (grad xfer), Kinnel. The 3 true seniors (no redshirt) are Higdon, Perry, Kinnel. Higdon and Perry are the first seniors under Harbaugh to be recruited by Harbaugh (unless you count O'Korn, who was a transfer).
The 4 redshirt juniors (classroom seniors) are Ulizio, Runyan, Reuben Jones and Gentry. Ulizio, Jones and Gentry were recruited by Harbaugh.
