A detailed breakdown. Looks like approximately 10 players with remaining eligibility leaving for the NFL. A record number, but a lot of those kids only have that extra year of eligibility due to the free 2020 covid-19 season. In fact, 5 of the 10 would have exhausted their eligibility if not for the free season.
If all 10 of those players leave early for the NFL we would only need 9 players (including grad transfers) to transfer out to reach the 85 scholarship limit based on our current 23 signees. For each additional new counter (February signee or transfer in) we would need to have another player transfer out. This should not be a problem, especially with the portal in full force and looking at our historical precedent. Here are the number of transfers out in recent years;
