2020 Is considered a "free year"
If a player plays this year it does not count against their eligibility
So If a player was a 5th year senior this year he CAN come back next year (6th year)
Here's the Rub
If the NCAA DOES NOT expand the numbers of scholarships available,
Then some incoming freshman will be screwed out of a scholarship because a 6th year senior took it
If the NCAA DOES expand the numbers of scholarships a program can carry
The extra players beyond their eligibility hurts schools who almost cannot afford the scholarships they offer now
If they do expand it how long can teams carry extra players? Just 2021?
Separate Question: If a 6th year player gets injured early in the year can they petition the NCAA for a special 7th year?
