....will show a QB under center nearly all game. Not exclusively, but almost all NFL QB's run plays from under center. We'll see nearly all teams use a FB. Lots of play action, which helps WR's and TE's get separation and find holes in the zone to sit down in. I don't think we'll see all that much "speed in space" because it doesn't work against high level athletes. Power does though, which is why we'll see featured backs being led by a FB. There will be plenty of shotgun with QB's throwing, not running (limited exceptions, and rarely by design). You'll see QB's and coordinators know who they want to attack and have a scheme to do so.

On defense we'll see 60% zone coverage. This allows DB's to jump routes, anticipate, read the QB's eyes and have the play in front of them. It also limits big plays and guys running open deep. Defenses will commit to stopping the run first, because that's what you do. Linebackers won't be lost in space, and know how to cover as well as stuff a run. DC's will take away the offenses main weapons, or at least try to, and adjust what they are doing based on what is happening real time.

This is all for teams not named the Lions.

I'd like to see some common sense schemes come back to Ann Arbor based off of these principles. Because they work, and if taught well, then you don't have to field a team of 5 stars to win games and compete at the highest levels.
