I think he is transferring for the same reason a lot of guys in his shoes transfer, they want a chance to play. He has worked his butt off for 4 years and is getting a degree from Michigan, but he likely won't see the field next year. So, he'll transfer to a small school, get a free year of grad school, and hopefully play against lesser competition.
