So I got a chance to watch most of the OKC / Chicago game last night and was wondering if I was going to see a transformed Russ Westbrook. Previously, I've always seen him as a somewhat erratic but incredibly explosive player. He could erupt for amazingly athletic plays or make the most baffling decisions that crushed OKC. Basically, he was the exact same guy. He's scoring like an absolute machine, but I don't think it's as a result of any vast improvements from what I've seen in previous seasons (at least based on what I saw last night). He still took a huge number of ill-advised jumpers and periodically would inexplicably abandoned his man on defense. He's an awesome player - top 6 or 7 in the league, but I think his meteoric rise this year is more a result of KD being out than Westbrook improving.

Also, I have to note that he would be getting crucified for the way he closed last night's game if he were LeBron -- missed free throw, air ball with a chance to go up 3 with five seconds left, lost his man on defense for the game winning shot and then steps out of bounds to turn the ball over on their final possession. It was an epic series of failures by a single superstar -- exceeding even LeBron's two missed free throws against Houston. Westbrook basically manufactured Chicago's comeback.

MVP to Steph Curry. LeBron reigns supreme as the league greatest player. Westbrook and Harden are sick talents that just don't have all the pieces put together quite yet.
