If we end up taking 3 TEs this year (and some are saying we will), we'll have taken 8 in the last 4 years. You know how many receivers we'll have taken? 5 (prob 6 since we'll likely add one this year). You know how many centers? 1. We've taken 7 guards and 9 tackles.
Offense is guaranteed to have 2 guards and 2 tackles on the field at all times, yet we're taking nearly as many at a position that's less important and frequently only has 1 on the field at a given time. I know Harbaugh's offense uses TEs a lot, but with the crap OL play we've seen for the past decade, seems like a few those TE spots would be better used elsewhere.
