Some things that jumped out to me:
- Our defensive line is not using their hands very well, at all. They're staying engaged way too long and can't get off blocks.
- Our corners just aren't turning to find the football when it's in the air. I don't know if they're being taught that or not. We were very lucky to not have PI called several times where the corner had both hands on a wide receiver and never looked back at the ball.
- Dax Hill needs to learn to high point the football. Would have made the difference on a couple INT's. He jumps high but instead of raising his hands he keeps trying to basket catch everything.
- On the last series in regulation we rotated the d lineman too damn much. Almost every play. Rutgers was snapping the ball before we could even get lined up.
- Rutgers was more physical than we were on both lines. Are we just that young and small? Don't know.
- Our secondary continues to tackle too damn high. I don't know if I saw one of them get a helmet on the football. We consistently were grabbing shoulder pads and trying to spin ball carriers to the ground.
- There was a visible attitude difference between the walk on that came in at safety and others in the secondary when it came to hitting/tackling. We've talked here about body language here ad nauseum but it was obvious that his energy was different.
- For all of the crap we've given Gattis, the offense was drastically more creative when Cade was in the game. There was actually space and the play calling was much better. Don't know if that was a confidence in what they felt Cade could handle or what, but we caught the defense of guard several times.
- If we want to run a bubble screen, make sure Ronnie Bell is one of the blockers out there. He's was a willing and good blocker last week where others weren't.
- And for the love of God, if we're going to run read option we have to actually make the read. It's frustrating to watch the end crash and the QB not keep the football.
- Clapping to snap the ball needs to go the way of the dodo. It takes away a clear advantage for the O lineman, and when we tried to fool the defense by not going on the first clap, we only ended up fooling ourselves as we're the ones who false started.
- A couple of guys on the team need their asses chewed out for loafing. They would have had a 5am meeting with Lloyd at the Big House for sure two decades ago.
