Jim, I listened to your recent podcast with Borton where you called for Michigan to shift its recruiting strategy to bring in consecutive large classes so that we will have a veteran laden roster for a couple seasons to take on what is likely to be an OSU roster that has a higher star per player average.

However, shouldn't Michigan shift resources away from the South to redouble its efforts in California, as it seems there is a golden chance to really get some top kids in the next 3-5 years? First, the P12 is in shambles as it signed 1 rivals top 50 kid, and only 3 of the top 10 California kids. Michigan has a long history of plucking top talent out of the Golden State, and the pressure to stay home isn't as intense as it is in the South. With schools such as USC floundering with no end in sight, it would seem we should really focus on getting top kids out of California. Michigan traditionally does as well as anyone out of state when the kids aren't staying in the P12.

Lastly, Harbaugh has a very good reputation with kids out in CA due to his work with SF and at Stanford.

Just think there's a huge opportunity here not unlike what we had in the 1990s pre-Pete Carroll where we got kids like Fargas and others.
