1) The defense is going to be excellent. We're not going to see 11 penalties (half of which were borderline to stupid) called again and without those calls, the SMU offense might still complete a few slants, but it isn't a problem. At all.

2) Teams will hit some slants on this scheme. To do so, they're going to throw into a crowded middle where deflections will turn into TOs. That's one trade-off in the scheme and - admittedly - so far, we've taken the short end of the stick. Theres been some good execution by opposing QBs, but the numbers tend to even out over time.

3) We're (hopefully) going get a first rate DT and a solid back-up back for November's big two.

4). The offense will disappoint when the big-boy DLs roll into town. Shea is great under pressure, but that's a low percentage situation. There are going to be more free pass rushers in those games and....the numbers tend to even out.

Bottom line: This team will still be as good as the OT play allows, just like it's been since the spring.
