Ranked by performance on this one practice.
1a. MAAR looks really good. Looks like the guy is a legit BT guard and is only getting more refined. Unorthodox but really surprised me. It wasn't all playground stuff but he has improved and will make a contribution. I thought MAAR was just going to be a guy but by the time he is an upperclassmen he will contribute significantly. Reminds me of a poor shorter Manny Harris....style wise. Not as big but has a quirky but effective game.
1b. Wilson is going to play at the #4. Natural scorer and can score on the move and not necessarily be set. He can get pushed around but another guy who surprised me because he looks so consistent shooting the ball. Opponents will exploit his lack of size on the defensive side. Have a feeling JB will zone when Wilson is in the game on the defensive side.
3. Wagner really looked good. I don't see a back to the basket guy and he needs work on his perimeter shot but guy is hard nosed and has skills. Is he going to redshirt? I don't know. I thought he was even better than Doyle. Guy is big and strong and has skills and if put in the right position (perimeter) then he will be effective. Big Ten player. Reminds me of a guy you would see play for Wisconsin. If he ever becomes consistent from the perimeter then look out.
He just looks like a guy who can help out on the defensive end this year. He likes to mix it up so I don't know if JB should redshirt.
Everybody was about as expected but the 3 listed above actually surprised me.
