Rashan Gary

Recruiting is a dirty business - a lot can still happen there. I don't feel as confident about Gary as others do perhaps just because the SEC has always had shady recruiting practices. Now, his mom is very influential in the process which should help us but it would not shock me if this one played out until after Signing Day.

Michigan has done a great job recruiting Gary and his mom. Ole Miss is a fine school and I'm sure he had a fine time visiting, but in his heart he knows Michigan is the place for him.

Agree. I'm not nearly as confident as I was a couple months ago when he visited. Harbaugh doesn't like being 'played' & the fact that Gary is holding out until signing day makes me a little skeptical about getting him. He also stated the other day that if he had a favorite, he would have already committed.

.Sadly JR, your post makes sense. JH inherited the Bo recruiting mentality. I recall one player who couldn't decide between UM and UCLA so Bo said "I'll make the choice easy for you. I'm withdrawing the scholarship offer." that scholarship went to a player who became an all Pro NFL player

Yep. I think that may have been what happened with Chris Clark last year (glad we didn't get that diva) Also, how bout the kid who decommitted just a couple weeks ago because JH told him he couldn't enroll early? Harbaugh knows what he's doing & he won't get 'played' by 18 yr olds. When it's all said & done he will get studs who want to be here & want to compete for a spot every single day. If Gary is one of them, great. If not, JH will get someone else & he will win. Book it! The Carr/RichRod/Hoke 'entiltlement' bullshit is GONE! JH will get a couple 'flips' before this is over too.

I agree. Harbaugh wants team players and not individual super stars. Gary is a wise kid being who is waiting to make a life impact decision. If he chooses a school like Ole Miss then so be it. Despite what some people think on this board, Ole Miss is not surrounded by trailers and barefoot one toothed racists walking around. It is a very good school and the campus and town are beautiful. If Gary wants to go there so what. Harbaugh will have the next player lined up. Gary obviously cares about academics beyond football and that is a sign of good parenting thank God. Good luck Gary and I hope you pick UM.

I don't get the sense that Gary is playing at all. Lots of top 10 players wait until signing day and do all their visits. The sign that UM has moved on is when, like with Terrance Davis, you hear of another significant offer for his position come into dock. Otherwise I'm very confident Michigan is in great position for him. There's no guarantees in the recruiting business, but they sure as hell are hitting the fences in NJ this year. Kareem Walker, Partridge on staff, the Harbaugh mystique, etc. I like UM's chances.

I remember a 5 star DL out of Detroit a few years ago who played in the All Star bowl as well. William Campbell.
To be fair, most of Campbell's career was spent under the defensive brilliance of Rich Rocket Scientist and his staff of clowns. With actual coaching for 4 years, no telling how much better he may have been.
