Disclaimer: I like Speight. I think overall he was solid last year and I think the losses were a little too nuanced to pin on one person. In fact, I generally think pinning things on the QB one way or the other is a little lazy. I understand the guy has limitations, but I think he's a capable QB and I believe he could lead this team to a BIG title. In short, I'm not a Speighter (see what I did there?!).

Anyway, I say all that to say this...any game in which a player plays effectively negates the argument about injuries affecting his play. I understand that he didn't make those arguments but others on this board seem perfectly willing to do so on his behalf. I find that to be weak. He played, therefore he's accountable for his results. In games he played well, there's an excellent chance that guys he victimized on the other side of the ball were playing hurt, but we don't hold that against him. There are no asterisks. If you play, you're accountable...period. Furthermore, everyone just speculates about the severity of the injury and to what degree it affects him. I'm sure it affected him but only he knows how much. In other words, I think there are plenty of nuances to emphasize in the games he didn't play as well, but can we stop blaming the shoulder thing?
