he mentioned that Michigan is on the verge of offering their first set of kids that were born after the year 2000.

Being from Texas, and my complete allegiance and affiliation to Michigan coming from seldom Michigan games that I was able to watch TV.

I fell in love with the Wolverines immediately. This was at at time when living in Texas stations only brought you 5 or 6 Michigan games a year.

Notre Dame vs Michigan was always televised.
Ohio State Michigan was always televised.

2 or 3 other games would be televised nationally, where I could watch.

This was also at a time when Michigan was dominant.

Jim Harbaugh was our quarterback when I began watching the Wolverines. Bo Schembechler was fielding top 10 squads year in and year out.

Before I knew the history, the tradition, and really understood the culture at Michigan...the Michigan I knew and fell in love with as a kid was an elite and top 5 current program.

Makes me think to kids now, and how they see Michigan. The ones who's only memories of Michigan are Appalachian State, the dominance by Ohio State and Michigan State over us the past decade.

The sliver lining in all this is Michigan has roots deeper than anyone in college football. It's just easier for recruiting when you have kids growing up seeing the Michigan we all know, the Michigan I knew when I was growing up. And the Michigan that we will be come again soon enough...

All the aforementioned makes the Jim Harbaugh hire that much important. It is a national hire. It is a well known hire. It is one of the top 5 coaches in the game. It is a hire that kids nationally know about.

We are going to surprise some people this year with how we play and how we win. And it couldn't happen a moment too soon...
