*** I'm about to see four-star 2022 quarterback Justyn Martin here in a little bit. I did some digging beforehand to see if it was worth it to stop by. I'm told Michigan does want him, but there doesn't appear to be a ton of optimism. Michigan only has one home game in October, and he already has an OV scheduled with UCLA that weekend. Michigan is trying to get him in some time in November, but a decision could come before then. I'm interested to see what I can get from Martin today. BTW, I've known his offensive coordinator since I was a baby reporter.
*** Everything is fine with 2022 quarterback commit Jayden Denegal. He is still a take and wants to be at Michigan. He had a great OV last weekend. Excited to see him tonight.
*** Three-star Jacksonville (Fla.) Terry Parker safety Damani Dent is now slated to make a decision on Oct. 18. A source close to the program told me there is optimism that Michigan will be the pick. However, there is still concern that SEC schools will jump in the mix — Oregon is also pushing for an OV to happen soon. This is consistent with what I've been reporting over the last few weeks and why I haven't put in a pick. Even if Michigan does land him, I think the concern will always be there. I don't really even want to make a pick in this recruitment. BTW, the source said Michigan views Dent in the same mold as Rod Moore, a comp I really, really like.
*** Three-star Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon wide receiver Cody Hagen has committed to BYU and is off the board. I'm told optimism is down with four-star linebacker Lander Barton. I think Utah remains the safe bet there. Four-star tight end Oscar Delp is set to make his decision in a couple of weeks. No reason for optimism there.
