I recently have had a massive loss of strength in my left arm. I first discovered this last Wednesday while doing my normal back and bi routine. I was doing an incline dumbbell curl to start the workout on which I usually do a set as follows: 35lbs X 12, 40lbs X 10 and 45lbs X 8. This day I decided to do higher reps so I started with 30's. Only to find I could only get 6 reps with my left arm. When I went to 35's I could only get 3 and I couldn't lift the 40's at all. I tried to finish my work out but my arm was so weak I basically couldn't do anything. The next day my bicep was sore as if I had done an intense work out.
I've let it rest for an entire week and when I went to the gym today there was no improvement. I actually did chest and tri's today and had weakness in my left arm in all of those exercises too. So it's not the bicep only.
I had thought maybe it was a pinched nerve of some kind because my neck has been bothering me a lot lately. I did get a deep tissue massage Friday night hoping it would loosen it up if something was pinching but there was no improvement.
But to be clear I have experienced no pain in the arm, no pulling, no popping, no bruising, no numbness, no tingling, no shooting pain down the arm, nothing. I just woke up one morning and it just wasn't there.
I'd greatly prefer to not have to go to the Dr since our insurance at my work is terrible. So any alternatives would be great. I really appreciate anyone's input. Thanks in advance for whatever advice you can offer.
