Based upon the landscape of College FB and what we have seen in our own Pro-style offense, I'm wondering why we would ever recruit a Pro-style QB. Think about how critical those zone reads have been this year. Wiscy was a momentum changer; The offense struggled against a stingy MSU front 7 for most of the game, but Shea was able to get those critical first downs with his legs.
Also- Ohio has been very prolific through the air, but the lack of a true dual-threat in that system has produced some chinks in the armor.
Also- Of all the teams we face (sans Ohio), McSorely poses the biggest threat to move the ball on our defense (IMO, although Indiana ain't no joke)
I understand the narrative "a Pro-style QB would want to play in a Pro-style system". But it seems obvious now that the wild card of the threat to run (not just "mobility") is too much of a game-changer nowadays. We are lucky to have McCaffery and Milton on this team, but it seems that the future QBs that we are recruiting are more in the mold of Peters....
