Read an article years ago where this psychologist concluded after research that in a 12 game college football season for arguably top 20 teams, 2 games the team will look unbeatable , 2 games the team will play like it didn’t show up at all 4 games the team will look somewhat above avg and 4 games the team will look somewhat below avg. He also concluded there is no pattern as to why it’s just statistics in the end, the human element of kids playing with pressure of winning, pressures of school obligations (for some schools I’d bet) and still going thru the maturation process from boys to men.
