Good evening Fort community,
I’m not one to do this sort of thing typically but my grandmother has been fighting a battle with esophagus/stomach malfunctioning issues for almost 5 years. Many of these issues have unfortunately been made worse by our medical professionals. Long story short, we found out this evening that (somehow) over the course of the battle her esophagus has been separated from her stomach and there is a failed/tangled hernia mesh that is wreaking havoc on her digestive organs. She has been transported from current local care to U of M and is under the best care possible. She will be undergoing extensive emergency surgery tomorrow morning.
She is 85 and has lived a beautiful life with great friends and family. More than anything else I want this suffering to end one way or another for her. She deserves comfort and peace. The alternative to the surgery was her slowly starving so it is the only option. Thoughts and prayers for her peace on Christmas Eve would be much appreciated. Thank you.
