I always hear losing fans talk about calls that should have been and could have been. In my opinion there were 5 clearly blown calls in the IU game that could have changed the outlook of the game:
  1. Offensive pass interference on IU - that was a terrible call, we got lucky.
  2. Pass interference on Michigan (not sure which player in the 3rd quarter) when the guy was completely untouched and ball ended up being on 3 yard line as a result instead of a 4th down.
  3. Holding by IU on the Howard TD in the 4th quarter. He was clearly holding the jersey of the Michigan player and it was completely missed.
  4. Lewis fumble at kickoff. Lewis clearly fumbled but we lucked out that forward progress was called. That should have been IU ball.
  5. Missed personal foul on IU against Ruddock when he had already slid.
Call #1 resulted in a FG for IU instead of a TD. Call #4 would likely have been a TD or FG for them. However, they also got 2 free gifts from the refs.

The BIG has to have the worst bunch of officials in college football. Every week there are several teams, if not all, are complaining about officials. The BIG office needs to start to suspend some of the repeat offenders, No guts in that office.

It's all over the place , not just in the big ten , but it does sometimes seem like there is a " good ole' boy" network in the big when it comes to rationalizing their behavior. I think far too many people have been friends and have had the same jobs for far too many years and it has seriously hindered their ability to do the job at the level it requires. These kids work too hard to lose games to poorly officiated games. I also realize that it is human nature and mistakes will be made , but then on Monday morning you discipline and suspend people like the acc did after the Miami game. When you have a crew like o'neil's make some of the most egregious calls and non calls in college football with zero accountability , there is definitely something wrong at the top . I don't believe in conspiracies , I just think they are incompetent. Holding is the one that puzzles me and maybe I don't watch enough line play of other conferences , but some of the big crews seem to completely turn a blind eye and guys get mauled play after play.
