I thought it would be interesting to look at how Harbaugh has recruited each position group. Below I've listed a position by position breakdown of the recruits Harbaugh has landed in the 2016, 2017, and 2018 classes.
A few notes: I didn't include the 2015 class because Harbaugh only had a month to recruit kids. I excluded players who are no longer with the team. Players are listed at the position that we recruited them to play instead of where they were ranked by rivals. I combined the center and guard positions into an interior lineman position because those positions seem to be somewhat interchangeable (Ruiz is taking reps at guard and center. Ekiyor is learning to snap). I only added the 2018 recruits who have committed and did not list the 2019 commitments.
My initial impressions are Jim has done a great job recruiting QBs, WRs, interior linemen, defensive linemen, linebackers, and cornerbacks. He has landed an elite group of players at each of those positions. The positions that he has (relatively) struggled to recruit have been RB, OT, and S. That's not to say that he hasn't landed quality players at those positions, but the recruits at those positions have not been as highly ranked as some their teammates.
