This program has rotted to its core. No leadership, a dysfunctional coaching staff, lack of talent, entitlement, loser mentality and a broken culture. There is no short term fix. This needs to be recognized. The only chance for resurrection is burning the whole thing down and starting fresh. Warde doesn’t have the gumption or the ability to make that determination. Only a collapse so blatant and so without justification could force his hand. It would take the perfect storm of a losing record, getting pushed around by a rebuilding Michigan State team with no other victories, going winless at Michigan Stadium for the season, losing to an 0-5 Penn State team, players quitting on their coaches and teammates, and Ohio State dropping 100 points on us. Anything less than that and we would find ourselves listening to a litany of excuses justifying the retention of this coaching staff.
I am thankful for today’s embarrassment. It was necessary so that we can finally turn the page on the Harbaugh era.
