Many of the local journalists address the coach as "Juwan" at the press conference. This may be following the lead of older reporters who saw him play as a youth - but he's a grown man now and has earned the title "coach."
It's a matter of respect earned. For POCs -getting called your first name instead of your earned "Dr." or "professor" or in this case "coach" can be a micro-aggression too. No one does this with 'older' coaches. Watch the Hamilton press conference with this in mind.
Address the man as Coach Howard in the press conference! He's not a kid anymore!
