When Harbaugh took over, Michigan as a program was in dangerous territory. Sure there was talent on the roster, although none at the most important position on the field. However, the culture lacked accountability, mental toughness, and even physical toughness. There were several games we lost that we had no business losing.
It is not easy coming in and trying to change that culture. Most coaches would fail. Thankfully we got our guy! He is struggling in beating our main two rivals, but for the most part is winning games he should win. That is step one of turning this thing around. Although it hasn't been pretty at times, Michigan is finishing games. That wasn't happening the 7 years prior to Harbaugh.
All that being said, there are valid concerns. We are just starting to get into the meat of the schedule and the QB position is still in bad shape. Guys are still making way too many dumb mistakes. But one thing I'm not questioning is the fact these guys are competing hard, every single game. Eventually, Michigan is going to win one of these key games like the one they will play in 2 days. A win like that is what it takes to start the climb to being an elite program. It is going to happen soon, whether it's Saturday or when the suckeyes come to town. Do I think we win Saturday? I would say probably not just based on what I've seen with our issues at QB. He absolutely has to make some plays and limit mistakes, and I don't trust that he will. But what really matters is that this Michigan team believes it can win, and I do feel that Harbaugh has his guys believing they will.
