Team Canada announced that because they're Canada and they're SUPER SPECIAL they are going to have a 28 DAY LONG World Juniors tryout camp in advance of the tournament.
Owen Power was invited (along with 45 other players), Kent Johnson was not. The schedule hasn't come out yet and I don't know if Canada will do rounds of cuts or not, but Michigan will be without their potential #1 overall pick for probably the first 4-6 weeks of the season. Because of course we will.
Wisconsin will also miss Holloway for that stretch.
I get that they're doing this bc the OHL and WHL aren't playing yet, but man that's a blow. It's hard enough losing guys for like 4 games during the normal World Juniors. Losing our most talented player for an entire month WHEN HE MIGHT NOT EVEN MAKE THE TEAM is bogus.
