That's going to be strange next year. I've been to Nassau Coliseum a few times over the years and it makes the Joe feel spacious. Hope they keep the Islanders name though. Charles Wang said they won't rebrand the team and Brooklyn is on Long Island. We shall see. More info in the link below.

On to the game...by no means do I think that Jimmy is shot but there are a couple of factors that favor Babcock riding the hot hand with Mrasek:

1.) Mrazek's style is more suited to the biggest weakness of the Wings defense...getting the puck out of their own zone. His aggressiveness leads to quicker transition and more quick strike up ice. A perfect example was the 3rd goal against Tampa in yesterday's 4-0 must-win game. Mrazek stops a slap shot and perfectly directs the rebound to Quincey who is cutting inside the right circle heading up ice. Quincey takes the rebound-pass in stride..quickly moving it up to a streaking Nyquist who misplays the pass but chips in a goal over Bishop in the ensuing race to beat the icing.

That goal would have never happened with Jimmy. Handling the puck and rebound control have been issues with him through his career. Jimmy makes the safe play..he'd either try to make a difficult save or he'd angle the rebound to the corner. Jim sacrifices opportunities to help his teammates to make the safe play. Unfortunately the Wings D is not built like it was in the past. Moving the puck has been a real issue and turnovers are killing them. Jimmy's style is compounding the defenses deficiencies.

2.) Jim himself admitted that he is not seeing the puck well. Wings can't afford to let him find his game with so few left. Mrazek is on fire. Babcock has to go with the kid here.

Jimmy has 4 years left on his contract and I'm not saying it's time to move on. For right now...Petr is the guy.

Wings 4-2 in a tight one.
