First off THANKS for all the thoughts and prayers . To start he is in U of M Hospital . I know I am NOT supposed to say this but his doctor isnt good ...... he is INCREDIBLE ! His cardiologist is Dr Fukuhara , who after surgery all day yesterday went in to see my brother after 11:00 last night and then sent a text to my brothers son ( in AA ) explaining his plans at 11:30 .
I will back track some .....and throw out some names to THANK . My sister in law started out yesterday morning trying to get my brother released from St Marys in Saginaw and it was bad . They were NOT helpful , and truthfully very rarely had any doctors looked at my brother and the cardiac dept and neuro surgery group were at odds . We could NOT get out of there fast enough . Finally around 10:00 am by nephew and sister in law loaded him in their car and headed for AA. The trip was ok , they got to the ER and it was SLAMMED . There were about 30-40 ahead of him . They told my sister in law they were NOT allowing ANYONE into the ER with patients . She had to leave him there once registered . This has been their policy for the last week due to COVID the ER lady told me on the phone . However they kept a constant stream of texts to my nephew telling him who was my brothers Nurse and PA and when they changed shifts at 3:00 he got another text with the new names . They then sent texts saying he would be seen by the ER doctor , what tests were ordered , and finally that he was being assigned a room . They were incredible with communicating . They then asked my Sister In Law to come in as my brother could not articulate his history . They then made an exception and allowed her to stay for over 3 hours as they ran different tests and got him to a room . She left for the hotel and he was still out getting a CT scan . They wondered who was seeing him and then Dr Fukuhara sent a lengthy text at 11:30 laying out his game plan starting in the morning ( today ) . I just spoke to my brother and he was normal after 3 days of not knowing where he was , thinking the TV was driving itself into the woods and that he wanted to go to the porch and see the boats go by . He was a mess and they said last night he needed to get off all the pain killers , and they started that last night and this morning he was almost 100% normal . He just told me his first doctor came in at 5:30 for about 45 minutes , followed by the Echo cardiogram at 7:30 , followed by several more doctors . The reason I mention all of this is because in his 4 days in Saginaw he saw 2 doctors , a cardio guy and the neuro surgeon . I CANNOT stress to you how good his care is and how he said to me they all are so professional .
Finally ( yes I am long winded ) I really know I should NOT do this but I want to mention the folks who helped me ...... Jamie Morris .He has been a friend for years and each year comes out to DC for a Charity Golf Tournament I do for the Redskins . For you trivia fans guess who holds the NFL record for carries in a game ? Jamie Morris with 45 . Guess who is second ? Butch Woolfolk with 43 ( with 2 other guys ).
Anyhow Jamie was such a HUGE help .He put me in touch with a lady named Andrea Arnold . They got me in touch with Dr Kim Eagle and he put us in the hands of Dr Fukuhara . SUCH INCREDIBLE KIND PEOPLE ! Finally Jamie put me in touch with another great helper in Scotty Passink . He put me in touch with a guy named Ryan Eff , and these 2 busted their ASS to help me . ALL of these people I can NEVER repay . Scotty you can maybe help with the Mott Fundraiser as he does a great job with that ! I just am sitting here trying to think of ways to ever repay their kindness in any way . PLEASE IF ANY of you can ever assist any of these people in this small world do it . Google Andrea Arnold as she does AMAZING things for former Michigan athletes ( again I am sure she would kill me seeing this ) but she is in Grand Rapids and just an amazing woman .
Finally I really am sitting her with tears in my eyes ... I read the good news a fellow poster TCHORVMICH shared earlier about his wife .......and it just made me realize after 20 some years of being here that this place IS like family to so many . You are incredible people to give your thoughts and prayers to so many , and yes your money as many years ago many of you will remember you donated to the Hunt Family in Hillman Michigan who lost everything in a house fire including their young son , yet you stepped up and donated over 20.000 dollars to people you didnt know to help them and they built a new home with that I drive by so many times when I am up north at my cottage . Dan Hunt and his wife will never know all of you , but they have tried to rebuild their lives thanks to you with their young daughter .
So I will end another one of my long winded posts to say THANKS SO MUCH ......This may not be a post about football or Basketball or M sports , but it IS about all of you

I got an email last night from the cardiologist saying that surgery will NOT be necessary as his condition is mild to moderate with his valve and they will treat it with medication . Just amazing people !
