Would appreciate any input / advice, guys and gals.
My daughter received email notice today of what I suspect is a "deferred" undergrad decision from UM. "We want more time to review your credentials, recommendations, etc." Also asked for a "statement of continued interest" essay.
On a positive note, she wasn't outright declined. I consider this a good thing, but is this notice just a way of UM letting kids down easy? Is there really a chance they'll accept her? Is the decision deferment a genuine intention of further review and consideration? Thoughts / experience / recommendations you can share? What to include in the essay?
My daughter is not an uber high flyer brainiac. She has very good grades, good test scores, strong volunteering and extracurricular activities. But no one works harder and UM is her dream school (shocking, huh?). She's a great kid and it would be amazingly fulfilling for our family to have her attend the best university in the world.
Thanks a bunch. Go Blue!
