I was listening to him on the radio this morning and the question was asked about what has happened with Pac 12 recruiting and how has Oregon separated themselves from the rest of the conference. (For reference, Oregon currently has the #7 class in Rivals and the next best PAC12 class sits at 15 in Washington and Stanford at 19).
He said that Mario Cristobal has put the rest of the coaches in the PAC12 on notice. He said he is the only coach in the league that looks at recruiting as a 365 day job. He says traditionally the rest of those coaches treat it like a seasonal job. They don't review film all year, and they don't go out evaluating talent unless it fits into their "perceived" season. Meanwhile Cristobal is all up and down the coast all season meeting coaches and players while reviewing and sending communications. Tom went on to say that Oregon is going to own the coast as much as it can, but also because these coaches don't treat it like the rest of the country does, California is wide open for business.
