Came here back in March to start my new job. Really love the area. Went to sleep last night to heavy thunderstorms. Woke up this morning to a flooded parking lot - got my van out just before the water reached the doors. By tonight, the whole lot and lower level of hotel are under water, just like many other businesses and homes all over Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie and other communities across Kenosha County. Several state highways are closed for days due to standing water and washed out roads.
I was in Iowa for the 2008 floods there and remember filling sand bags as the community braced for the flood they knew was coming. But these people here had no warning. It happened overnight.
Hoping for a quick recovery for those affected, but I know there will be some who never fully recover from this....sad night in Wisconsin, keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
