OT: thinking about getting Lab puppy. Never owned a dog before.

What should I look for? Should I spend $1500 for a certified one or pick one up for $700 from classified? Does it matter?

Any advice on purchasing and caring for a dog would be appreciated. Lol.

As background, I have a house with a small yard and 3 boys. Youngest boy is 12. So the dog won't be harassed.
