The main headline on BBC today was the death of a man named Peter Sutcliffe, also known as the Yorkshire Ripper. I'd never heard of him before, but he murdered 13 women in England in the late 70s. Said he contracted COVID-19 in jail and refused treatment. I guess that's one positive to come out of this virus.
It was heartbreaking to watch as they interviewed a man who's mother was one of the victims. He was just 5 years old at the time she was murdered. Another woman down the street was also murdered by the same guy. Can you imagine being 5 years old and losing your mother? And then having another woman down the street also get murdered? He said his biggest memory of that time, other than the pain from losing his mum was the fear that the murderer was just watching all the houses on the street and was going to kill him if he ever went outside. I can't imagine.
Sorry for the depressing post...it is Friday the 13th, after all.
