...It never ceases to amaze me how the Michigan brand can be found both frequently and randomly.
As I work in the field of Indian Child Welfare, I'm attending a Fatherhood and Motherhood is Sacred conference at the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation in Arizona. Finishing up our last day with a Fry Bread luncheon while waiting in line, I see this dude decked out in a Michigan hat and shirt. He's in conversation so I don't interrupt him.
I head back to my table of friends and he's sitting right there with his buddy. So I sit down, give him a Go Blue!, and shake his hand. His buddy leans back, sighs, rolls his eyes and says "Oh, jeez!" I ask him, "Well, who are you for...Ohio State?" Michigan guy says "Nope, he's Michigan State!" and we laugh.
Turns out they work for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. Talked a ton of football, hoops and tribal stuff.
They seemed to know their stuff, but not to the level of insanity as most here. "Coach", the Michigan guy, and Bob, the Spartan, both seemed to think beating PSU would be a tall order. And Coach thinks Harbs will be on the hot seat if he can't beat Ohio. Also said he coaches at an Division 1 HS team and hates Izzo.
I suggested that he check The Wolverine if he wanted some solid discussion and Mom's Basement for Bob.
Really good dudes. Never underestimate where you will meet a Wolverine!
