the problem with Izzo is the totality of his behavior and conduct over many years including:

- getting into it with his players in public view on multiple occasions
- his nonstop berating of officials and constantly being out on the court
- his repeated complaining about officiating during interviews and press conferences including blaming them for losing
- his public criticism of his players
- his making up excuses for the poor performance of his team
- his repeated refusal to accept ultimate blame when his team doesn't win
- his failure to give unqualified credit to opposing teams for simply beating him
- his failure to properly handle/address the off court misbehavior of his players which includes multiple alleged incidents of sexual assault and violence
- his sticking by Cleaves during his recent sexual assault trial

Izzo is a great basketball coach. But he's also a very flawed human being that prioritizes his own personal coaching success and reputation above the interests of others including the reputation of the academic institution for which he is employed.
